Esther Okoronkwo and Kaylee Hunter each scored twice and AFC Toronto piled up six second-half goals in a 7-0 thumping of the visiting Vancouver Rise on Saturday in Northern Super League soccer action.
Kaela Hansen, Sarah Stratigakis and Jade Kovacevic also scored for Toronto (13-6-2), which opened up a nine-point lead over Vancouver and Montreal for top spot in the six-team league standings..
Sierra Cota-Yarde picked up the clean sheet as Toronto dominated Vancouver 15-1 in shots on target.
The Rise had won their last four games and were unbeaten in their last eight heading into Saturday’s match.
Toronto got nice goals from Esther Okoronkwo, Kaylee Hunter and Sarah Stratigakis in the 7-0 victory over Vancouver. The win was the largest deficit in an NSL game this season.
Roses climb standings with win over Wild
Montreal vaulted from fourth into second with a 5-0 win over the Wild later Saturday in Calgary.

Earlier Saturday, the Ottawa Rapid (8-6-6) rallied for with a 1-1 draw with the last-place Tides (3-12-4) in Halifax.
